For those looking to put their winter training to good use as the 2018 triathlon season kicks off, turbo trainer specialist Bkool has created a new league especially for the tri-community. Bkool TRI is offering up a series of challenges running from 9-29 April. These give participants the ability to ride sections of actual bike stages of three renowned triathlon races in Europe.
- IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship Elsinore, Denmark. Race date: 17th June
- Triatlon de Valencia, Spain. Race date: 12th May
- Alpe d’Huez, France. Race date: 2nd August
The technology on Bkool’s Indoor Simulator allows triathletes to ride the route in a 3D world or experience the stage in a real-video session. This is positioned as ‘a perfect way for potential participants to ride the route before they race.’
The first challenge of the Bkool TRI league, is the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship in Elsinore, described as one of the most beautiful IRONMAN events in the world.
Participants will complete a one-loop 48km bike course that takes them on a journey of coastlines, countryside and fast long straights. The route begins and finishes with Kronborg Castle in the distance.
Though the course can be ridden at any time on the Indoor Simulator, Bkool has organised two challenge sessions which will be held on 12 April. Those who complete the route, will be entered into a draw for two race places at the Toledo Triathlon.
Athletes can enter online and choose a time slot. On the day, they then open the Bkool Indoor Simulator 5 minutes before the start time to pair the trainer and sensors, and go to the homepage. At the time of the event, athletes press ‘refresh’ and scroll down to the LIVE section. Everyone who joins during the first 10-minute warmup and finishes the session will be entered into the raffle for places at the Toledo Triathlon.
Challenge sessions for the Triatlon de Valencia and Alpe d’Huez will take place on 19th and 26th of April respectively, with participants also in with a chance to win prizes courtesy of Bkool.
Marketing Director Jorge Serrano said “The Bkool TRI campaign is a great way for new triathletes to prepare for their first event, as well as a breath of fresh air for experienced triathletes who spend countless hours sitting on a turbo trainer in a mind-numbing workout.”
