Wahoo Fitness has announced that it will renew its partnership with the BORA-hansgrohe professional cycling team, led by three-time World Champion Peter Sagan and three-time Giro d’Italia stage winner Sam Bennett. With the renewal, Team Bora-hansgrohe will continue training and racing with Wahoo’s aerodynamic ELEMNT BOLT GPS Bike Computer and the TICKR Heart Rate Monitor through the 2019 racing season.
Since commencing their sponsorship at the beginning of the 2018 season, BORA-hansgrohe has won 12 races, including Sagan’s historic Paris-Roubaix triumph, and three stages of the Giro d’Italia with Irish rider Sam Bennett.
With this partnership agreement extended for another season, BORA-hansgrohe will utilise Wahoo’s ELEMNT BOLT, billed as ‘the most aerodynamic, and easiest to use bike computer on the market’, and the TICKR Heart Rate Monitor. Both devices will help measure race-winning efforts, and allow the team to refine their training and racing strategies.
“I’m excited to have some of the best riders in the Pro Tour peloton using our ELEMNT BOLT and TICKR products to help them track performance and guide their training while racing at the top levels of professional cycling,” said Chip Hawkins, CEO and Founder of Wahoo Fitness. “Thanks to the BOLT’s aerodynamic design, BORA-hansgrohe riders can feel confident that riding with our GPS computer will give them a competitive advantage in all of their races this season and next.”
Three-time World Champion and BORA-hansgrohe captain, Peter Sagan, added “I’ve really enjoyed using the Wahoo bike computers so far this season. They’ve been very easy to use, and have helped me focus my training as I prepared for this season, and especially my winning ride at Paris-Roubaix.”
In 2017, BORA-hansgrohe secured over 30 wins, including six national and world championship jersey victories. The team has added to this success so far in 2018, with 12 wins before the end of June, and will look to continue adding to its tally of victories in 2019.
For Wahoo, this renewed commitment to the BORA-hansgrohe Professional Cycling Teams furthers the company’s commitment to ‘helping cyclist at the highest level of the sport realise both major and incremental gains.’
“In our first season in partnership, we’ve seen tremendous results while using the Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT, and have taken advantage of the ease with which it syncs with our Web4Trainer training platform,” said BORA-hansgrohe Team Manager Ralph Denk. “We’re excited to be continuing this partnership into next season, and working with Wahoo as we continue to fight for top World Tour results and push our athletes to the limits of human performance.”
Wahoo’s CEO, Chip Hawkins, added, “It’s been an honour to see our World Tour teams succeed this season while using Wahoo products like ELEMNT BOLT, KICKR, and TICKR. At the top levels of cycling, every small gain can pay off with big results, and we’re grateful to be part of the winning formula for teams like BORA-hansgrohe and Team Sky. After all the success we’ve seen in 2018, it’s exciting to carry our partnership forward into 2019.”
