Danish accessories specialist CeramicSpeed notes that a number of its athletes dominated at the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawai’i, using its OSPW (Over Sized Pulley Wheel) System. The company in particular cited the performance of Germany’s Patrick Lange who defended his IRONMAN World Championship title. In doing so, he became the first athlete to finish under eight hours (7:52:39), breaking his own course record. Immediately after the race, he then proposed to his stunned girlfriend, in front of the excited crowd at the finish.
As well as Patrick Lange who, aptly, uses a limited ‘Victory Edition’ OSPW (Oversized Pulley Wheel) System – one of only 25 in the world – five more professional male athletes using a CeramicSpeed OSPW System finished in the top 10, with third place going to David McNamee in 8:01:09 (GB). Each athlete in the top 10 at Kona went sub-nine hours.
World Champion Patrick Lange said “I am still overwhelmed by the win and by breaking the 8-hour barrier. Everything came together for me at Kona, as it often seems to happen at that magical island. I was able to bring home another victory and was able to break my record from last year.
“Like all the athletes, a huge amount of hard work went into it, and not just from me. It was the culmination of fantastic collaborations and expertise from many people, including the guys at CeramicSpeed. Having their super smooth bearings and fantastic OSPW System, the awesome ‘Victory Edition’, made it possible for me to conserve as much energy as possible on the ride and then take it into the run.
“It was such an incredible experience and I’m still celebrating with my fiancée – I can’t wait to return next year!”
CeramicSpeed athlete Anne Haug (GER) took third place in the pro women’s race, in a time of 8:41:57. In total, 37 pro athletes at Kona rode on CeramicSpeed’s OSPW System, which claims to offer the most efficient drivetrain performance on the market, thanks to the low friction of the CeramicSpeed Bearings and the unique design of the overall system.
Ben Powell, Chief Marketing Officer at CeramicSpeed said “Our congratulations go to Patrick Lange and to all the extraordinary professional and age-group athletes that took part in race week at Kona. We are still celebrating the outstanding achievements of CeramicSpeed athletes in the most prestigious triathlon championships in the world.
“CeramicSpeed’s OSPW Systems were ridden by 66% of the male pro-athletes of the top-15 Kona field, and it’s been used by professionals and age-groupers alike, with an even greater proportion of riders using at least one CeramicSpeed product.
