Unique event format Chasing Cancellara – from cycling icon Fabian Cancellara – steps into its second year in 2018. There are three different race formats, and nine events overall this year. Included are special treats such as an event on the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, a newly created Pave?-Classic in the historic centre of Solothurn or the mountainous challenge in the Alps of Vaud in Switzerland.
In addition to the new destinations the new event formats in 2018 are: Mountain Ride, Team Challenge and Chased by Cancellara. Alongside mass start races up a mountain, there is new a team time trial where teams of two can ride against Cancellara himself.
The Chased by Cancellara format will take place in Mallorca (Spain), Denmark and Follonica (Tuscany, Italy). In this format, the Swiss cycling legend will be the last over the starting line and tries to overtake as many riders as possible. For the final, the Corne?rcard Cancellara Challenge in Lugano, Switzerland, the starting positions are only available by invitation or through top results achieved at previous events.
“With Chasing Cancellara we are looking forward to give many fans the opportunity to meet their idol,” said Armin Meier, CEO of Human Sports Management AG. “Fabian Cancellara is proud of his event formats. We want to give Chasing Cancellara participants, with many different proficiency levels, a joint experience with a breath-taking race feeling.
