UK Run Events, the events channel of #UKRunChat and the organiser of The Running Festival at Goodwood, has confirmed that ‘due to popular demand, a Family Mile has been incorporated into the event on Sunday 14th October 2018.’
The Family Mile starts at 09:00 GMT and will be open to young runners aged between 4-16 years, who will complete one mile at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit in southern England. The youngsters will be cheered on by family and friends in the grandstand and can enjoy a full finish experience before being awarded with their unique finisher’s medal.
All young runners under the age of 11 will need to be accompanied by an adult, who will also receive a medal for completing the race, while those aged 11-16 can run unaccompanied. There will be an enclosed repatriation area and support for all participants.
The Running Festival at Goodwood already includes a 10K and a Half Marathon – covering 2.5 and 5.5 laps respectively of the motor racing track – and aims to appeal ‘both to motor sport fans wanting to race on the smooth tarmac of the classic circuit as well as to those wishing to simply enjoy the experience of running at this quintessential English estate.’
Race Director Joe Williams said, “We are delighted to announce the Family Mile at The Running Festival at Goodwood and look forward to welcoming young runners of all abilities. The youngsters will get the full race experience in front of crowds of supporters and earn an impressive medal for their training and race day efforts! With the summer holidays finished, now is the perfect time to sign up and have a superb day of running to look forward to this autumn.”
Up & Running is the Official Sports Retail Partner of the event; and Ronhill, Hilly and Altra are the Official Sports Brand Partners for The Running Festival at Goodwood. They will be present at the Pop Up Pit Shops, which will feature a range of well-known brands and innovative accessories for runners.
The Family Mile takes place at 09:00 on Sunday 14th October and is open for entries. Entry costs £8 for children aged 11 and above running unaccompanied, and also per adult. Entry costs £5 per child aged 4-10 accompanied by an adult. All finishers of the Family Mile receive a medal.
