American Bicycle Group (ABG), manufacturer of award-winning high performance bicycles – Quintana Roo (QR) and Litespeed (LS) – this week announced that it will be sponsoring German professional triathlete Anja Beranek for the next three years. Beranek will be riding one of QR’s PRsix Disc series of tri bikes, which is hot off ABG’s newest production line and allows athletes to order specific colour combinations and configurations. Beranek’s color of choice is Neutron.
“We are very happy to be part of Anja’s formula for success,” said ABG CEO Peter Hurley. “The largest components of her success formula are training, technology, dreams and passion. These components describe Quintana Roo and its team perfectly. Together, we are really looking forward to the road to Kona.”
Over the past four years, Beranek has been a two-time IRONMAN champion, four-time IM 70.3 champion, European 70.3 champion and bronze medallist 70.3 world championship. Her first IRONMAN championship was in Switzerland in 2013. In 2015 she was the German Long Distance Champion and went on to place fourth in Kona that year, the highest placing female German in the field.
“I am very happy to be back in the QR family and I love my new pink PRsix,” said Beranek of the partnership. “QR was my first big sponsor when I started my professional career, and with them, I laid the foundation of my sports success. I am so happy to represent such a true triathlon brand. We have much in common … our hearts beat for triathlon.”
Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, American Bicycle Group manufactures high performance bikes under two brands: Litespeed (road, mountain and adventure bikes) and Quintana Roo (triathlon-specific bikes). Litespeed’s titanium technology makes it a leading manufacturer of cold-worked, cycling-specific tubesets, which led to a partnership with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to fabricate the wheels’ framework of the Mars Land Rover.
Quintana Roo’s PR Series bikes have built a reputation for their design innovation, aero technology, power-to-weight ratio and components compatibility. The multi-award-winning PR Series – PRsix, PRfive and the most recent PRthree – have been recognized by a variety of trade and consumer organizations for innovation and technology, including: LAVA magazine as Editor’s Pick for Gear of the Year (PRsix, PRfive) and Interbike’s Triathlon Business International (TBI) Triathlon Innovation of the Year Award (PRfive).
