Taking place on the weekend of 18-19 May 2019, the Slateman Legend is landing in Wales next year. Race organiser Always Aim High Events notes that ‘the iconic Slateman Triathlon just got even tougher’ and has confirmed that entries are now open for the all-new 70.1 Legend distance.
Always Aim High adds that the 2019 Slateman is expected to be one of the biggest ever, with over 1500 triathletes expected to descend on Snowdonia in North West Wales. The race village location at the foot of Mount Snowdon is expected to attract over 5000 spectators to cheer on the racing action.
The Slateman will kick off the Always Aim High 2019 Adventure Triathlon Series 2019, followed by the HIGH5 Snowman in July, and the Superfeet Sandman in September.
The new Legend distance consists of a 1.9km swim in the bracing waters of Llyn Padarn, a 90km cycle route through the heart of the Snowdonia National Park and a 21km run on Llanberis’ unique Slate Quarry trails and Padarn Country Park.
Race founder Tim Lloyd said “We are so happy to add the Legend distance to the Slateman, it is great we now offer the Legend distance across the whole Adventure Triathlon Series. Our competitors have requested the greatest challenges in the most stunning locations, and we hope that this is what all distances at the Slateman will deliver, especially the new legend distance.”
He continued, “The Slateman was our first ever event and we absolutely love it. We’ve got some other surprises up our sleeves for the Slateman 2019 too, so watch this space.”
