Gran Fondo Gdynia on the Baltic coast of Poland is laying claim to being ‘probably the first road race for amateurs in the world that will prepare a Warming Zone’. At the event, taking place on 1-2 June 2019, a range of bike trainers will be available, as well as rollers and stationary bikes.
The event is partnering with the Technogym brand on the Warming Zone. It will be open to competitors both on race day and the day before. It will be at Kosciuszko Square, from where participants set off on the Gran Fondo Gdynia route.
“A stationary warm-up before the start of a cycling race has until now been reserved exclusively for pro athletes,” said Natalia Jędrzejczyk, Communication Manager at the event organiser, Sport Evolution.
“We came to the conclusion that this is an unnecessary limitation. We want to guarantee the maximum comfort and safety to all participants. That’s why, together with our partners, we will prepare a Warming Zone with around 50 places. In the zone there will be available bike trainers, roller trainers and even stationary training bikes.”
Dominik Śliwowski, Board member at ITP S.A., the exclusive distributor of Technogym for Poland, said “Technogym is a leading company in the fitness and wellness industry. Bikes created by the Technogym brand, which will be available in the Warming Zone, were created in cooperation with professional cyclists.
“Our stationary bike imitates the experience of riding outdoors, thanks to mechanisms such as mechanical gear shifting and hill climbing simulations.”
The second edition of Gran Fondo Gdynia will take place on 1-2 June 2019. The competitors will have two distances to choose from – 80km and 134km. The routes lead through Kashubia, and the start and finish of the competition are located on the Kosciuszko Square in Gdynia.
