HOKA ONE ONE introduces new updates, models & categories with Fall ’19 line

HOKA ONE ONE has unveiled its Fall ’19 line, which ‘fine-tunes favourite models and introduces exciting new ones’. It includes a new edition of the best-selling Clifton shoe franchise, a redesign of the fitness-oriented Hupana, an upper update to the race-ready Evo Mafate, and a brand-new, lightweight, highly-cushioned model. This new shoe offering is aimed to ‘appeal to everyone from serious racers to those running their first 5K’.

Clifton 6 (RRP £120)
A fine-tuning of the model that has long appealed to serious racers, everyday runners and beginners for its signature HOKA cushion and ride – alongside its surprisingly low weight – the Clifton 6 features a deconstructed upper with fewer overlays and embroidery reinforcement to minimise weight while retaining structural support.

The Clifton 6 will return to a softer, plusher midsole cushion reminiscent of early Clifton models, while sporting an upper that cuts down on weight and improves on the fit and durability of its predecessors.

Rincon (RRP £105)
HOKA’s lightest trainer – while retaining signature HOKA cushion and ride characteristics – is the all-new Rincon. This is billed by the company as a ‘race-ready, well-cushioned trainer at one of our lowest price points to date.’

With a new early-stage Metarocker positioning designed for an efficient forward roll-off, and an upper stripped of excess material, the Rincon weighs in at near 7.5 ounces for men’s size 9. HOKA adds that its ‘well-cushioned platform makes this shoe capable of handling big miles and long days on your feet.’

Hupana Flow (RRP £100)
The Hupana Flow brings a new midsole and outsole tooling to the popular, versatile, fitness-oriented Hupana franchise. Low-profile and responsive, with a rubberized EVA midsole and outsole, the Hupana Flow features an engineered knit upper and extra eyelets for different lacing and fit options.
Additionally, HOKA introduces a new version of the Hupana Wool, as well as wide options in all Hupana models for the Fall ’19 product launch.

Evo Mafate 2 (RRP £160)
The race-ready iteration of HOKA’s max-cushioned trail shoe receives a slight upper update for Fall ’19. It retains the Kevlar-infused Matryx upper for durability on trails with minimal weight. Meanwhile, a redesigned toe cap provides further protection, and a lycra toe vamp improves the flexibility and fit of the toebox.

The midsole and outsole remain the same as the first Evo Mafate, including aggressive lugs and a Vibram Megagrip outsole for maximum traction on trails.

New categories
HOKA has introduced a new series of categories to its expanding line-up of footwear. As more HOKA models are released, the company adds that ‘these new categories will help staff and consumers alike more easily identify which shoe is the best fit for any given task.’

GLIDE focuses on delivering a plush, smooth ride and includes the bulk of core HOKA training shoes. It is divided into the subcategories ‘Neutral’ (e.g. the Clifton and Bondi franchises, as well as the Rincon), ‘Stability’ (Arahi and Gaviota), and ‘Ora’ (for all recovery products).

FLY remains the responsive, up-tempo category. HOKA adds that these models are known for their versatility and aesthetic as for their running and fitness utility. The subcategory ‘FlyRun’ includes the Elevon, Mach and Cavu franchises, while ‘FlyFit’ consists of the Hupana franchise, Tivra and Akasa.

SKY includes all off-road selections, including ‘ATR’ (e.g. the Challenger and Stinson ATR franchises), ‘Trail’ (including trail-running models like the Speedgoat and Mafate franchises and Torrent) and ‘Hike’ (Kaha, Arkali and Toa).

RACE includes HOKA’s lightest-weight performance-oriented models in both the ‘Trail’ and ‘Tarmac’ categories for off-road and road racing, respectively.

HOKA ONE ONE is billed as ‘the fastest growing premium running shoe brand in the world’. Two life- long runners launched HOKA in 2009, after years spent handcrafting and shaping lightweight shoes with extra-thick midsoles. Initially embraced by ultrarunners because of their enhanced cushioning and inherent stability, HOKA now offers shoes for all types of athletes who enjoy the unique ride the shoes provide.
