Triathlon couple – Mirinda ‘Rinny’ Carfrae and Timothy ‘TO’ O’Donnell – have confirmed they are set to race in Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia, Poland, on August 5, 2018. The presence of both elite triathletes gives a boost to the event in Gdynia.
“It is a great news for the whole triathlon community here in Poland,” said Piotr Jakóbik, Marketing Director for Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia. “Rinny has a legend status already and TO has accomplished great things in his career too. We look forward to seeing them race in Gdynia together with athletes from more than 40 different countries from all over the world.”
Enea-sponsored IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia involves a swim in Gdansk Bay, after which athletes head out of the city for a picturesque bike ride through the hilly and green Kashubia region. Once back, they run along the crowdy streets and sea boulevards in Gdynia, finishing on the city beach – one of the popular holiday destinations in the country.
Registration is still open. Currently, there are nearly 1900 athletes on the startlist.
Mirinda Carfrae is a three-time IRONMAN World Champion, still holding the marathon course record in Kona. During her outstanding career, she has won IRONMAN Austria, IRONMAN 70.3 Brazil and Challenge Roth, among others. In 2018, she is getting back to competition after her maternity break.
Timothy O’Donnell is a multiple IRONMAN World Championship qualifier and the 2015 bronze medalist. He’s a winner of IRONMAN Boulder, runner-up of 2015 IRONMAN Latin American Championship and the 2012 IRONMAN 70.3 US Pro Champion.
“Hey everyone! It’s TO and Rinny. We are excited to announce that for the very first time we’ll be coming to Poland. We’re coming to race in Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Gdynia in August. Put it on your race schedule, come join us,” Carfrae and O’Donnell announced in a short joint statement.
