Douchebags (Db), a lifestyle brand for the modern traveller, is introducing a way for cyclists to travel with the launch of its new bike bag The Savage. The intelligent bag fits most types of mountain and road bikes and is designed to take the stress out of traveling.
A soft bag with a rigid internal frame, The Savage’s design was inspired by the lifesaving roll cages used in racing cars. The bag’s construction centres around the patented Db Roll Cage – a specially developed internal framework that gives the bike protection while at the same time creating stability and structure to the bag. By combining high durability, steadiness, compressibility and style, Douchebags claims that The Savage redefines traveling with bikes.
The Savage is available for pre-order now and will go on general sale on 28th May.
Inspired by roll cages
Db’s move into the cycling industry is seen as a natural progression for the lifestyle brand; it all started with its first ski bag back in 2012, and since then the company has continued to ‘push boundaries within the travel gear segment’. The Db design team has collaborated with various professional and frequently traveling athletes, as well as experts from the worlds of cycling and aviation.
The Savage is designed to fit any type of mountain bike from freestyle to downhill – and plus size bikes too. With the additional Road Bike Handlebar Adaptor, the bag will also fit any type of road bike with a curved, detachable handlebar. The length of the bag allows bikes with long wheelbases (up to 130 cm) to fit inside the bag.
Beyond its patented protection system, another key feature of this bike bag is its packability. The Savage encompasses the advantages of a soft bag, weighing much less than a hard case bag and can be collapsed and rolled to 35% of its full size for easy storage. The folding parts of The Db Roll Cage are held together with a shock cord; and the frame packs away into segments that can be stored neatly inside the bottom of the bag.
Truls Brataas, Co-founder and CEO of Douchebags, said “As a cyclist, I know all too well that we invest a lot of time and money into our bikes. Douchebags wants to give peace of mind to people like us that our equipment is safe and secure when traveling. Thousands of hours have been put into designing The Savage and we are stoked by the results. Douchebags is all about contemporary smart solutions, and this bike bag offers cyclists a stress-free, practical and stylish product for bike transportation.”
Other key features of The Savage include self-standing stability, secure fastening and the convenience of preparing the bike on the side of the bag. The bike bag also comes with a detachable bike block, a detachable fork protector with padded compartments for suspension fork and handlebars, and an internal stash pocket for pedals and tools. In addition, the bag provides integrated wheel compartments, and for those traveling with multiple sets of wheels and race gear, Douchebags is also launching The Wheelie wheel bag (€129) and The Guardian helmet bag (€69) into its new cycling travel range. These will be available to buy at the end of the month.
The Savage is available now to pre-order and will go on general sale on 28th May at douchebags.com/bike-bags for €699.
