In celebration of International Women’s Day this week, Women For Tri, a program of The IRONMAN Foundation, has opened applications for its 2018 Triathlon Club Grant Program. The grants support local triathlon clubs as they undertake activities including clinics, seminars and educational lectures, social gatherings and related activities to increase women’s participation in the sport of triathlon.

“We are excited to launch this year’s club grant applications and look forward to our seventh and eighth grant rounds this cycle,” said Kyrsten Sinema, Chair of the Women For Tri Advisory Committee and US Representative from Arizona. “The growth of our club grant program in 2017 included our first set of international pilot grants, and we anticipate further expansion of global club grants this year. In the past several years, we have seen incredible growth of women’s participation in triathlon, largely in thanks to our partners in this effort and triathlon clubs around the US and the globe.”

This year, Women For Tri will again offer multiple grants of up to US$2,500 per grant for triathlon clubs who will utilize the funds to support women’s engagement initiatives, including bringing first-timers into the sport. The grants are open to triathlon clubs globally and are not limited to those that are women-only. Grants will be dispersed in two rounds: the first in April and the second following the IRONMAN World Championship in October.

Since its inception in 2016, the Women For Tri Triathlon Club Grant Program has provided more US$183,000 in funding to triathlon clubs dedicated to the Women For Tri mission of engaging more women in triathlon. In 2017, grants were provided to 23 clubs in the United States, US Virgin Islands and Western Australia.
