Ahead of Eurobike 2018, POC is introducing several new innovations and updates to its 2019 cycling collections. The new products include: a brand new helmet, Omne Air SPIN, the VPD System torso, new innovative knee and elbow protection and an extended and advanced commuter range.
POC is a leading manufacturer of helmets, eyewear, body armour, apparel and accessories. Founded in 2005 in Sweden, the company has a mission ‘to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists’.
POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, commenting on the new releases, said “We are delighted to be able to present a host of new products and collections at Eurobike. Driven by our safety mission, and the dedication and enthusiasm of the POC team, we are again able to release products with an unquestionable level of quality, innovation and relevance.”
He continued, “The Omne Air SPIN, a multi-purpose helmet equally at home on the road bike as the daily commute, is a good example and highlights how we take our award-winning technologies to develop products with the optimal blend of function, form and inspiration, so we can protect more cyclists.
“POC is well known for innovation and we have used our extensive experience in fabric and material development to challenge conventional thinking even further. The materials and design in our new VPD knee, elbow and torso protection systems are a perfect example of what we believe should be at the forefront of protection thinking. Likewise, presenting our new and updated commuter collection, POC and forth, is a real highlight. Featuring a host of new technical fabrics and technologies, it is a collection that supports safety, protection and eliminates the borders when riding between the home, office or restaurant for all urban commuters.”
POC, which has received over 60 international awards for technology, innovation and design, including the prestigious Bike industry ‘Brand of the Year’ award in 2017, will be presenting all the new Cycling 2019 range offerings at Eurobike.
POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, added “Focusing on quality and details is an incredibly important aspect of cycling apparel development. We work closely with our athletes in both mountain bike and road to perfect everything from weight, fit and function. With our cycling apparel 2019 collections we set out to create apparel that has precise function and performance at its core, but which could equally be used in combination across POC collections, so that cyclists could use their inspiration and have the flexibility to choose their apparel based on their own needs and demands.”
Omne Air SPIN/Omne Air Resistance SPIN
The Omne Air SPIN has been developed with an optimized EPS liner for crash protection and features POC’s patent pending oblique impact protection system, SPIN. The helmet also features a slimmer profile thanks to the precise depth in core zones of the liner and the optimized coverage of the helmet shell. In addition, a host of innovations and technologies, such as a 360° adjustment system, precision fit straps, weight and optimized shape all go towards creating what POC calls ‘the ideal cycling protection for all’. The Omne Air Resistance SPIN is built on the same foundations as the Omne Air SPIN but has been specifically designed for a multipurpose commuting and MTB use.
VPD System Torso
The VPD System Torso is a new back and chest protection system which has been created around levels of protection, ventilation and comfort. The design and materials used ensure that the Torso system is minimalistic and ‘will not interfere with riding in any conditions as body heat moulds the protection to rider body shape’.
POC and forth – commuter collection
The POC and forth commuter collection has been designed to support urban bike commuters and to ‘eliminate the boundary between home, work, meetings etc.’ According to POC, it is about encouraging a low carbon society whilst enhancing safety. There are several new pieces in the POC and forth collection, including the Oslo pant and jacket, the Montreal vest.
New road and MTB collections
POCs new 2019 apparel collections are divided into the two main cycling categories; road and MTB, with both benefiting from performance and safety, the core of the POC development process. Some highlights for the Road collection for 2019 include the innovations in Raceday with a number of aerodynamic materials and panels to help reduce the impact and drag of a cyclist’s body through the air.
AVIP – which stands for Attention, Visibility, Interaction and Protection, was POC’s first road bike collection and supports enhanced safety whilst training on the open road. Eurobike will also feature a new autumn/fall riding collection which will be available in September 2018.
POC will present all the new Cycling 19 collections at Eurobike from 8-10 July 2018 – Hall B3 – booth 203.
