Wahoo, the specialist in connected fitness devices, will be supporting Sniper Cycling, consisting of the Belgian Crelan Charles Cyclocross team and Veranda’s Willems-Crelan-Charles road cycling team led by two-time Cyclocross World Champion Wout van Aert.
The team has selected three key products from Wahoo’s ecosystem to support its training and racing efforts: the Wahoo TICKR Heart Rate Monitor, the Wahoo ELEMNT GPS Cycling Computer, and Wahoo’s award-winning KICKR Smart Trainer. From long training miles and pre-race warm up efforts, to measuring last-lap surges in a World Cup race, ‘every corner of the Wahoo product ecosystem aims to address the specific needs of road and cyclocross athletes competing at the world’s most elite levels’.
Starting in January 2018 and running through the full 2018 season, Wahoo will support Sniper Cycling with its sweat-proof, dual-band TICKR Heart Rate Monitor to measure efforts, along with the ELEMNT GPS cycling computer capturing ride data. For winter indoor power-based workouts and pre-race warm up efforts, Sniper athletes will use the KICKR smart trainer and its flywheel technology.
“We’re proud to partner with Wahoo, who not only aims to achieve best-in-class products for every category, they are just as committed as we are to facilitating the personal and professional development of elite athletes,” said Sniper Cycling co-founder Nick Nuyens.
Team Coach Kristof De Kegel said, “Precision, reliability, and user-friendliness are all elements crucial to enabling our individual athletes to train to their specific needs and compete at a world-class level. We’re extremely pleased Wahoo’s product ecosystem makes all of this possible, and on a highly individualised athlete basis.”
“2018 is a historic year for Wahoo,” said Chip Hawkins, Wahoo CEO. “Not only do we already have the fastest men in pro cycling and professional triathlon riding with Wahoo products, we now have a two-time cyclocross world champion and one of the most elite cyclocross athletes in the world with Wout Van Aert insisting on using our computers and trainers.”
He continued, “The Wahoo product ecosystem was tailor-made specifically for these elite athletes, to provide a comprehensive developmental and competitive advantage – and I couldn’t be more proud teams are taking advantage of it.”
