SCOTT Sports is presenting a new road biking and gravel series. ‘The Escape’ will aim to give cycling enthusiasts inspiration for their next weekend escape. The bike company adds that this new road series will highlight some of the most beautiful road and gravel rides worldwide.
In each episode, SCOTT Sports athletes, riders, ambassadors and/or employees will show their favourite rides. This can be up a famous climb or on an unknown road. To be able to ride it yourself, SCOTT will provide a download of the GPX or Garmin file at the end of each article and give information about the difficulty of the route.
Episode 1 – The Escape – Grosse Scheidegg
Episode one will be around the Grosse Scheidegg in Switzerland, ‘a stunning and unknown climb next to the world famous north face of the Eiger’. It is hosted by Alain Rumpf, a former UCI employee, who nowadays works as a guide. He is joined by writer and photographer Dan Patitucci, a leading mountain sports photographer.
Dan Patitucci – Mountain Sport Photographer said, “We can climb one of the best passes in Europe and look out to one of the most famous north faces in the world – The Eiger, this is quintessential Switzerland. 1200m above Grindelwald and a 1000 meters below the summit.”
Alain Rumpf – SCOTT Sports Ambassador added, “For 20 years, I managed stuff at the pointy end of the sport and thought that changing the cycling world was the coolest, most meaningful thing I could ever do. Then I lost my job and made a late career change to turn into a bike bum. This, I found out, turned out to be way more rewarding.”
SCOTT notes that more episodes will be available before January… ‘Svein Tuft will take us on a gravel trip for three days through the Pyrenees. Annemiek van Vleuten and Sebastian Kienle show us their favourite ride around Stelvio; and Carlos Verona and Dani Juncadella will ride a stunning loop around La Cerdanya. In the new year we will then expand the series to more locations worldwide.’
