Mike Reilly, the ‘Voice of IRONMAN’, and Cameron Brown, a legend on the IRONMAN New Zealand course, are getting up close and personal with athletes and fans in Auckland, New Zealand. The race announcer and athlete will be joining forces with Auckland City Triathlon Club in a special Q&A session on Monday 26 February in Remuera, Auckland.
US based Mike Reilly is renowned as the ‘Voice of IRONMAN’ and endurance events all over the world, and is teaming up with New Zealand’s IRONMAN legend Cameron Brown to ‘share their finish line stories and insights with aspiring athletes of all walks of life in Auckland’. This is positioned as a unique chance to hear the stories, ask the questions and understand what makes thousands of people around the world push themselves to the limit in their efforts to achieve the dream of IRONMAN or their chosen endurance sport.
Mike will be telling special stories and finishes of some athletes he’s come across over the years including the very first time he announced someone in with the iconic phrase, ‘You Are An IRONMAN!’
Mike will be sharing some of his inspirational stories from many of the world’s most famous finish lines, he is currently writing a book titled ‘Finding Your Finish Line’. Cameron Brown, an Auckland local; will be the co-host adding his own stories and correcting any errant Kiwi facts!
As the Voice of IRONMAN, Mike Reilly is looking forward to spending time with aspiring Kiwi athletes; and he is hoping to inspire a few more to make the start line (and have the chance to ask questions before they cross the finish line to his voice in New Zealand in early March).
Mike Reilly has worked as an on-site announcer and TV host for triathlon, running and cycling events worldwide since the late 70s. This has placed a microphone in his hands at over 1200 endurance events around the globe.
He is best known as the ‘Voice of IRONMAN’, and this October will be his 30th calling of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. IRONMAN New Zealand, taking place on March 3rd, will be his 171st IRONMAN he has worked on and his 17th year in Taupo, NZ. Since 1989 over 300,000 triathletes have heard his famous and heartwarming phrase ‘You Are An IRONMAN!’

This is a race he has won 12 times and podiumed 17 times! Cameron still races around the world, but these days also shares his training around the streets, hills and beaches of Auckland with the aim of inspiring the next generation of athletes including his own two sons (both of whom are excelling in the junior ranks of their chosen sports).
