Unveiled at Eurobike and made in partnership with Polartec, the Santini Vega Xtreme jacket is a new offering from Santini for autumn/winter 2018-19. Designed for extreme weather conditions, it aims to protect riders not just against cold and wind but rain too.
Road-tested by the Trek-Segafredo in torrential rain during the 2018 Milano-Sanremo, Santini adds that this is a jacket for riders who want to keep cycling through the winter and refuse to let bad weather spoil their fun. The Vega Xtreme is available at a special introductory price of €179 for September and October 2018 only. For the USA, during September-October, the jacket is priced at US$225 instead of the RRP of US$290. UK pricing on the Vega Xtreme will be £210.
The Vega Xtreme jacket is made in collaboration with Polartec and its conception and development are detailed in a thermoplastic inside label.
The jacket features an outer layer of Polartec Windbloc which protects the wearer from wind, rain and damp as well as’ guaranteeing superb stretch, breathability and body heat balance’. Polartec Alpha, on the other hand, is used on the inside of the collar to keep this more delicate area warm while still allowing sweat evaporation.
The raw cut sleeves are made from padded fleece with a waterproof outer PU layer at the wrists and a longer back for maximized protection.
Visibility on the road is aided by two orange stripes on the shoulders that also feature small reflective dots and also the Santini logo on the back. A waterproof zip back pocket keeps valuables safe and dry.
