TOUGHMAN has appointed Triathlete magazine to produce the exclusive, official worldwide event guide for what is billed as ‘the #2 triathlon event series globally’. Under the terms of an agreement, Triathlete, in its June issue, will publish a print and digital series guide to all 11 TOUGHMAN events internationally, including the TOUGHMAN championships in Stoney Point, NY in September 2018.
Triathlete mag will also provide certain additional promotional and marketing services. Meanwhile, TOUGHMAN will grant to Triathlete the rights to utilize its event registration pathway to market its print and digital media products. The two parties will also work together on a variety of other marketing and promotional initiatives to help ‘broaden and diversify the reach of their individual products, as well as the overall sport of triathlon’.
The official TOUGHMAN series guide will include course maps and schedules, athlete bios, race stats, women and men’s pro series previews, and how-to’s for fans and participants to make the most of the series. The guide will be distributed run-of-book in the June issue of Triathlete, available online at Triathlete.com. It will be distributed to all 22,000 TOUGHMAN participants in on-site registration bags, and available onsite to the estimated 25,000 TOUGHMAN race fans.
“This is a win-win for both parties,” said Richard Izzo, founder and President of the TOUGHMAN series. “With Triathlete’s long-term experience and expertise in the publishing and media arenas, we hope to notch up our official guides, and make them as useful and complete as possible for our participants. It should be a great partnership.”
Gordon Selkirk, Publisher of Triathlete added, “This is a natural fit for us. With our past expertise in producing official guides for events like IRONMAN and the Tour de France, we believe we can help grow the TOUGHMAN brand with participants, fans, and sponsors. The TOUGHMAN Guide is a slam-dunk for marketers attempting to reach a huge audience of dedicated, committed multi-sport athletes and fans. ”
Triathlete is billed as the world’s largest triathlon media brand and is published by Pocket Outdoor Media (POM). Pocket Outdoor Media is a newly formed publisher of a number of leading media brands in cycling, triathlon and running – including VeloNews, Triathlete, Women’s Running, Competitor.com, VeloPress, and the VeloSwap consumer cycling show.
