Over the years, Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz, which takes place on July 8th in Spain, over the full and half distances, has experienced a natural evolution in female participation. Based on this, the event’s organizing team has decided to take a step forward to encourage this momentum by launching the ‘Women and Triathlon’ initiative.
This project, created in collaboration with Fundación Vital Fundazioa, was established with the aim of spreading and promoting triathlon among women, and encouraging participation in medium and long distance racing.
A release from Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz added that ‘Triathlon is undoubtedly a very demanding sport discipline that in Canada, the US or Germany already has strong roots among female athletes; and, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, it is building.’
The organiser has produced video showcasing three athletes, Judith Corachan, Ruth Brito and Beatriz Ruesga, who will race in Vitoria-Gasteiz on July 8th. In addition, in the context of TriVitoria 2018, a round-table discussion on triathlon and the influence it has on women will be organized.
The organizing team of Triathlon Vitoria-Gasteiz has proposed in the next three years to gradually increase female participation… ‘so we encourage all women to know the triathlon because who knows it once, lives it forever.’
