TriSports continues sponsorship of 2019 Deuces Wild Endurance Festival

Specialist online retailer TriSports has announced its continued sponsorship of the 2019 Deuces Wild Endurance Festival, held on June 8-9, 2019. The event is held in Arizona, and TriSports has been a sponsor of the Deuces Wild Endurance Festival for the last 16 years.

“Continuing to support the work that Seton and Debbie Claggett put into this event is a privilege,” said Gary Wallesen, TriSports General Manager. “Their charity work alone is enough to attract our attention and earn our continued support, and the athlete experience is beyond reproach.”

The Deuces Wild Endurance Festival aims to have something for everyone. There are 5 triathlon race distances – including a Youth and XTERRA Off-Road course – as well as multisport options such as Aquabike, and 4 run events to choose from.

Seton and Debbie Claggett originally started TriSports in Tucson, AZ in 1999. Working out of their home, they laid the foundation for what would then become the ‘largest online triathlon retailer in the United States’.

In 2009, Gary Wallesen and his partners took over Athletes Lounge in Portland, OR. More than a store – the venue was a training hub for local triathletes and a place to connect with each other. It hosted product demos, sponsored athletes, and held training sessions, carving out a space for the Pacific Northwest tri community to flourish.

Wallesen had watched TriSports’s online operation for years, and knew he ‘needed an online presence, but didn’t have the resources to do it well.’ Through a meeting with the management team at Velotech, owners of Bike Tires Direct, the concept of AthletesLounge.com was created.

A year later, Seton was forced to consider the possibility of closing TriSports as the company struggled with bank troubles. Seton and Gary connected in Portland and discussed their shared vision for the triathlon community. This centred on offering the best selection of gear through online retail, combined with a local home base and training resources.

Velotech was able to acquire the TriSports brand and merge Athletes Lounge. The combined entity now hopes to ‘bring the same passion for sport, knowledge of product, and personalized attention that Seton and Debbie gave to the triathlon community.’

Gary Wallesen added “We’re committed to supporting your success by carrying the products you need at the best prices and constantly exploring new ideas and gear. TriSports University will continue, with articles on training, races, destinations, nutrition, and more.

“With a highly trained staff of tri specialists, we’re passionate about product knowledge and customer satisfaction. We’re athletes ourselves – we swim, bike, and run, and we’re dedicated to supporting you every step of the way.”

The Deuces Wild Endurance Festival takes place in Fool Hollow Lake & Recreation Area near the city of Show Low in Navajo County, Arizona.
