Featuring live athlete tracking, social media sharing and key event updates – USA Triathlon has announced the launch of a new USA Triathlon national Events App for the 2018 season, available now for free download on iPhone and Android devices.

This interactive Events App is designed to provide event information and live athlete tracking for competitors and spectators at USA Triathlon’s four owned National Championships: Duathlon, Collegiate Club & High School, Youth & Junior and Age Group (sprint and Olympic-distance).

Developed in partnership with SportStats USA and Real Time Race Tracking, the app completely replaces the 2017 USA Triathlon National Events App. Users of the 2017 app (with a blue icon) should delete it from their phones and download the new USA Triathlon Events App (orange icon).

“When USA Triathlon launched a National Championships live tracking app last season for the first time, the feedback from athletes, their families and friends was overwhelmingly positive,” said Brian D’Amico, Director of Events at USA Triathlon. “The new 2018 edition features enhanced athlete tracking and social media-sharing capabilities. We look forward to providing this resource to our National Championship participants and their supporters throughout the season.”

The app’s functionality allows on-site spectators, as well as friends and family at home, to follow the progress of an athlete as he or she races through a National Championship course. Followers can receive updates via Facebook, Twitter, and a push notification or text message when an athlete passes a checkpoint or crosses the finish line.

Overall race results and a race leaderboard will also be accessible, and push notifications will alert athletes of critical event details or changes to the event schedule. Additional app features include volunteer signup, complete event schedules, course maps and custom finisher certificates.

Live tracking, results and leaderboards can also be accessed from a web browser-based version, available at the following links for each National Championship event: Duathlon, Collegiate Club & High School, Youth & Junior, Age Group.

The first event to utilize the app will be the USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championships, set for April 7-8 in Greenville, South Carolina, followed by the Collegiate Club and High School National Championships from April 27-28 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
