USA Triathlon (USAT) is closely monitoring Hurricane Michael and its potentially catastrophic impact on areas of the Southeast Region of the United States. In a release, the organisation noted… ‘We pledge to support the affected triathlon community in any way that we can. Severe storms can be devastating for athletes, race directors, coaches, clubs and officials on a personal scale, and can also wreak havoc on the sport, including event cancellations.’

The USAT release added…

The national office staff of USA Triathlon would like our constituents in the Region to know that we are here to help. In addition to proactively reaching out to local key stakeholders, we welcome input from anyone who can make us aware of local support efforts or needs for assistance. Please do not hesitate to reach out via the following channels:

  • Athletes: USA Triathlon Membership | membership[at]usatriathlon.org or 719-955-2807
  • Race Directors: USA Triathlon Event Services | eventservices[at]usatriathlon.org or 719-955-2802
  • Coaches: USA Triathlon Coaching Education | coaching[at]usatriathlon.org
  • Clubs: USA Triathlon Clubs | clubs[at]usatriathlon.org
  • Officials: USA Triathlon Rules and Officials | rulesandofficials[at]usatriathlon.org

USAT adds that ‘At this time, Hurricane Michael is not forecasted to significantly impact the Sarasota-Bradenton area, and race organizers for the Sarasota-Bradenton Triathlon Festival do not anticipate any changes to the event as a result of the hurricane. However, if the weather conditions change and event modifications are needed, USA Triathlon will post updates to the event homepage at usatriathlon.org/sbtrifest2018 as they are confirmed. All registered athletes will also receive email communication from USA Triathlon if event modifications are made.’
