20,000 visitors at VELOBerlin 2019 show

Taking place last weekend, on 27-28 April 2019, the VELOBerlin 2019 show presented the latest bicycle trends and innovations at Berlin’s former Tempelhof Airport. The show’s 20,000 visitors were treated to 300 exhibitors, 500 brands, stage presentations and workshops, as well 20 bike races and thousands of test rides.

This year’s edition of VELOBerlin set both exhibitor and visitor records, making it one of Germany’s and Europe’s leading bicycle events for the general public. (Last year’s VELOBerlin show in April 2018 received 18,000 visitors.)

In the run-up to this year’s VELOBerlin festival, the event’s floor space was expanded by 20%. “Several of the major bicycle brands closely monitored VELOBerlin’s growth last year, before deciding it was the ideal location to make their presentations in 2019,” explained Project Director Katja Richarz.

In a release, the show organisers cited that exhibitors were reportedly pleased with the well-informed visitors, whose interests were just as broad as the range of exhibitors at the event. VELOBerlin 2019 showcased a range of cycling offerings – from fixed-gear bikes, cargo bikes, e-bikes, low-step bikes, through to high-end racing bikes.

Sebastian Maag, Marketing Manager for Germany, Austria & Switzerland at Specialized said “Our debut appearance as an exhibitor at VELOBerlin was highly successful, overall. We’re delighted with the many fruitful discussions, the public’s breadth of knowledge and diverse demographics, as well as the great atmosphere in the halls, on the old airport’s apron, and on the test tracks. We didn’t expect to attract such crowds.”

Jacob von Hacht, Events Director at Stevens added “We are very positively surprised about our debut appearance. In conjunction with our local dealers, we’re finding there’s strong interest in our brand here. VELOBerlin is very well organized and very well attended and everyone’s enjoying themselves. Being here makes a lot of sense.”

VELOBerlin 2020 will take place at Tempelhof Airport on 18-19 April 2020 – which will mark the bicycle festival’s 10th anniversary.
