The Giro di Sicilia in Italy is back on the international race calendar after a hiatus of 42 years. The returning pro cycling race starts from Catania on April 3rd and finishes in Etna on April 6th. RCS Sport, the organiser of the new edition of the Giro di Sicilia, has collaborated with apparel specialist ALÉ for the race’s leader jerseys.
There are four jerseys for the event, all of which have been designed by ALÉ:
- The Red and Yellow jersey plays with the region’s colours, alternating red and yellow on an abstract geometrical design.
- The Orange jersey is the same design but has shades of the fruit that is the symbol of the region and of the sponsor (NamedSport).
- The Green Pistachio jersey is inspired by the earth and vineyard colours (Cantine Cellario).
- The White jersey is dedicated to younger riders.
From ALÉ jersey for the Giro di Sicilia belongs to the brand’s PRR collection. Lightweight, race and ergonomic fit, the jersey is made using special fabrics. These include a microfibre 115g/sqm material with a fine gauge structure. There is a breathable multifilament polyester for the side panels and the new aerodynamic fabric with ribs and three-dimensional elasticity for the dye-cut sleeves.
The back and pocket panels use ALÉ’s RIP PRO AIR material with a diagonal structure that allows a quicker drying process. The elastic on the waist is made with a combination of a perforated fabric inside and a carbon filament fabric outside that ‘helps to dissipate electrostatic charges’. It’s antibacterial and aids with moisture elimination. Three back pockets, and reflective details for added visibility on the road, complete the look.
Alessia Piccolo, CEO of A.P.G. S.r.l. the company owner of the ALÉ Cycling brand, said “It’s an honour and a privilege to be side by side to this new race on its first edition after such a long time. All our passion and love for this sport have been put in the development of these jerseys: our design is to pay homage to this beautiful region and to its colours!
“My best wishes for a great cycling event, which will spread the beauty of this land and our great cycling outside of the region.”
