Through a new partnership, BMW will serve as the Official Vehicle Partner of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events, taking place on May 3-5, 2019 in Pittsburgh, PA.
The collaboration with BMW of North America and local Pittsburgh-area BMW dealers was confirmed by P3R, the marathon’s organiser, which also organizes a variety of other races, training runs and health & fitness programs throughout the Pittsburgh region.
“We’re thrilled one of the world’s most admired and distinguished brands chose the Pittsburgh Marathon to expand their global endurance partnership portfolio,” said Troy Schooley, Senior Vice President of Sales and Partnerships at P3R.
“This partnership will help to elevate the race weekend experience for the nearly 40,000 participants who travel from all over the world to earn the title ‘Runner of Steel’.”
The plug-in hybrid electric BMW i8 Coupe and all-new BMW M850i Coupe, will serve as the Official Pace Vehicles. These will lead the marathon, half marathon and marathon relay participants on a scenic tour of Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 5.
The 26.2-mile marathon course crosses all three of Pittsburgh’s rivers, traveling through 14 neighbourhoods and passing by several Pittsburgh landmarks before finishing Downtown.
