Trek’s Bontrager accessories brand has had a revamp of its popular Triple X Road Shoe. The new version is the ‘top-shelf choice in Bontrager’s shoe offering’. According to the company, ‘it delivers the best in performance, fit, and style to road racers the world over.’
The updated design of the Triple X Road Shoe was informed by feedback from Trek-Segafredo pro riders and features a new construction, new materials, and a more refined fit.
Like its predecessor, the new Triple X shoe keeps the dual Boa closure system. This has been improved with a medial to lateral foot wrap construction, neoprene flex zones around the tongue, and a Form TX lace-routing pattern that aims to reduce pressure on the top of the foot.
‘The shoe also features 360° of perforation and better ventilation in the toe box, along with an external heel cup that delivers more stability and a better lock when riders are punching the pedals on a sprint or climb.’
“Triple X is renowned for its durability, stiff plate, and great style,” said April Beard, Bontrager Director of Product for Helmets and Shoes. “With the new version, we took all the best parts of our much-loved design and improved on them, giving road racers a top-shelf option that has the absolute best in performance and luxury.”
- Triple X features a 100% OCLV carbon sole that’s lightweight and stiff for efficient power transfer.
- Dual IP1 Boa dials enable precise micro-adjustments to best suit riding needs.
- Triple X is ‘swathed in a luxurious, lightweight material with 360° of perforation’ for breathability and comfort.
- The Form TX lace routing system takes the pressure off the top of the foot and allows for additional adjustability and a more secure fit.
Bontrager adds.. ‘When you slip on Triple X, you benefit from a tongue that wraps from the inner to outer foot, optimized flex-zones, and a specifically engineered heel cup with no-slip lining for ultimate comfort and control.’
The all-new Bontrager Triple X Road Shoe (US$399.99 MSRP) comes in a variety of classic white, black, and navy colourways, as well as a LTD option (US$449.99 MSRP). This features a mirrored red heel cup and red Boa dials.
