Bontrager has released a new road shoe that claims to delivers ‘unparalleled comfort and breathability’. Ballista Knit combines the lightweight flexibility of a knit upper with the stiffness and power transfer of Bontrager’s inForm Pro last and OCLV Carbon sole.
“We’re always developing new ways to maximize the comfort and performance of our road cycling shoes,” said April Beard, Bontrager Director of Product for Helmets and Footwear. “Ballista Knit is a unique, meticulously designed solution that delivers the best of both.”
Ballista is constructed with breathable, ultra-lightweight knit material and wrapped in a durable water repellent (DWR) coating. According to Bontrager, ‘it gives riders slipper-like comfort, the right ventilation for hard rides, and the high-performance necessary for fast rides.’
- A heel-mounted Boa IP1 dial gives riders two-way fit adjustments. The unique Heel Reel lacing system draws the foot down and back to create a secure lock and a ‘more efficient pedal stroke’. Heel Reel also prevents uncomfortable top-of-foot pressure.
- A stiff, lightweight OCLV Carbon sole and Bontrager’s ergonomic last come together in Ballista Knit for power transfer.
- Ballista Knit includes a durable shoe cover for training rides in inclement weather. It’s custom-made to accommodate the rear-mounted Boa dial so riders can still adjust their fit on the fly.
The all-new Bontrager Ballista Knit Road Shoe (US$324.99 MSRP) comes in White, Black, and Radioactive Yellow colorways. All models are available now, exclusively on trekbikes.com and through Trek’s wide network of retail partners.
