Competitor Running welcomes Jonathan Beverly as Guest Editor

Award-winning journalist, Jonathan Beverly, has taken over the reins of Competitor Running as Guest Editor. Beverly is former Editor-in-Chief of the popular Running Times magazine and website, which focused on training, news, injury prevention, and gear reviews for performance-oriented runners.

The announcement confirming the addition of Jonathan Beverly to the Competitor Running team follows hot-on-the-heels of the title adding a new columnist – professional runner Dathan Ritzenhein. His ‘Ritz on Running’ feature becomes a new twice monthly column.

‘Beverly will revitalize Competitor Running with a renewed focus on reader service journalism that will help runners pursue faster, longer, and better running.’

Beverly will work alongside Competitor Running’s Editorial Director, Erin Beresini. “Jonathan knows the Competitor Running reader intimately,” said Beresini. “His background with Running Times, as a coach, runner, and a successful author means he’s got both the experience and the voice to offer our readers an early season shakeout.”

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to contribute more to Competitor Running,” said Beverly. “I’ve admired the brand and how it fills a need for runners who want to pursue their best.”

Jonathan Beverly draws on decades of experience in the sport and the industry. As editor, he wrote 150 columns, more than 35 feature stories and numerous training articles, athlete profiles, race reports, and shoe and gear reviews.

He is author of two recent books, Your Best Stride and Run Strong, Stay Hungry. Beverly’s recent work has appeared in Competitor, Runner’s World, Outside, V02Run, Fitbit.com and Running Insight. In 2006, Beverly received the Journalistic Excellence Award from the Road Runners Club of America.
