CONEBI works with Eurobike for joint stand at ASEANBIKE show

There are now roughly six months to go until the first edition of ‘ASEANBIKE powered by Eurobike’. The inaugural trade and consumer show will take place on October 3-5 in Bangkok, Thailand. The show organizers jointly report ‘good progress in committed brands and exhibitors from all around the globe’.

As the association of the European bicycle, e-bike, parts and component industries, CONEBI (Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry) will now promote the new event in Bangkok with the objective of a joint booth.

According to Eurobike, ‘the idea of a B2B2C trade fair platform for the Southeast Asian market falls on fertile ground worldwide.’

CONEBI President Erhard Büchel said “The ASEAN region is a promising future market as the number of production sites are continually expanding. We see great potential here, both at sourcing and OEM levels, and as a future market for western brands. As a result, as well as the fact that the new fair carries the signature of the established Eurobike, we gladly decided to participate in the premiere fair with the objective of a CONEBI joint stand.”

The joint booth will promote European companies and their products. Eurobike Head Stefan Reisinger added, “The CONEBI engagement is a great endorsement that underscores the great potential of the new trade show in Thailand and brings global industry participants closer together.”

Not only because of the duties and customs decisions that are much talked about in the bicycle industry, the Southeast Asian market is becoming increasingly important as a sourcing, production and export market for (e-)bikes and parts. These markets have been important in the fields of sourcing, accessories and apparel for years.

Alongside this, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia are also developing an increasing sports and leisure culture, as well as a growing awareness of sustainable mobility. As a result, many of the ASEAN market countries see increasing sales and rising potential for the international bicycle and micro-mobility industry.

In addition to a number of local player manufacturers, brands, importers and wholesalers from Thailand and neighbouring countries, ASEANBIKE has reportedly received commitments from major OEMs and suppliers in Taiwan and China, as well as prominent Western commitments.

ASEANBIKE powered by Eurobike is a joint project of Messe Friedrichshafen/Eurobike and N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer (NEO) located in Bangkok. It is open to OEM manufacturers, brands, importers and distributors as well as retailers and service providers. It offers multiple exhibition and meeting options, from classic trade show booths to OE meetings, importer meetings and retailer meetings, right the way through to test/demo tracks, group rides and more.

The October 2019 date was chosen specifically by both partners as the industry has a ‘proven need for a central meeting point in the ASEAN market at this time’. At the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, the show is being run by the NEO, the Thai organiser of the International Bangkok Bike show.
