Ocean Lava is expanding in Italy with the Ocean Lava Cavallino Treporti Venice event. Taking place on April 28, 2019, the event is based in Cavallino-Treporti, a town and commune in Venice, northern Italy.
Kenneth Gasque founder and owner of the Ocean Lava event brand said, “To come to Italy is a dream of mine. If you look at a map of Cavallino-Treporti town, you see it is near Venice in the north of Italy.”
He continued, “This is the perfect destination to combine sport and vacation. If you love history, culture, art, gastronomy, design and fashion this is the place to visit, and why not combine this with our beautiful sport.”
Ocean Lava Cavallino Treporti Venice is produced by the local organising team at LigerTri. The event is well established, with its first edition taking place in 1988 when it also hosted a European Championship.
Race Director Stefano Rossi said he was happy to be joining up with Kenneth Gasque`s Ocean Lava event brand. “I have raced IRONMAN Lanzarote and I know what Kenneth stands for. He always stands at the finish line and welcomes all finishers with medals and a handshake. This is what we are going to build on, an age grouper paradise.”
Event distances will be 1.9k swim, 80k bike and 20k run. Participating athletes will swim, ride and run in Cavallino park, with routes entirely closed to traffic.
The commune of Cavallino-Treporti is on a peninsula which divides the Venetian Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo International Airport, which is only 40km from the race site.
