Evans going for versatility with new Pinnacle Arkose range

UK cycle retailer Evans Cycles has announced a new line of Pinnacle Arkose bikes for 2019. ‘Undergoing the most significant re-design in its 7-year history’, the new Pinnacle Arkose bikes aim to offer an ‘unparalleled range of set-up options – offering modern riders one bike that can do it all.’

Described by some as a ‘gravel bike’ before the term was being used regularly, Evans adds that the Pinnacle Arkose has long been ahead of the curve. The new bikes maintain the same geometry that the line is renowned for but with new custom-formed tubes, a sleek fully modular dropout and a bridgeless seat stay design to offer ‘the smoothest-ride yet’.

The new Arkose frame can fit either single or double chainring options, electronic or cable gears as well as a wide compatibility for wheel sizes (650B x 52C or 700C x 45mm) and rear axle type. With internal front & rear dynamo light routing and mudguard mounts as standard, the rider is given control to change their set-up to suit their needs.

Also new for 2019, the Arkose now comes in two formats – Arkose Road and Arkose Dirt. With three different specs to choose from in the Dirt and two for the Road, both options use the same frame and fork allowing riders to simply choose the wheels and gearing most closely matched to their needs.

Designed for those who want to explore the trails at the end of the road, the Dirt models come with a compact 48/32 chainset. With wide ratio cassettes and 45mm tyres this bike is built to handle the rough stuff where the road runs out.

The Road models are ready for the rider who prefers tarmac. With 2x gearing and 32mm tyres as standard this bike is for both endurance road and light gravel use.

Completing the range are the Arkose X and Alfine 8 models. Equipped with high volume 650b x 47c WTB Byway tyres, a SRAM Rival 1 groupset plus a comfort and control-enhancing flared adventure bar, the Arkose X is a bike for varying terrains.

The Arkose Alfine is positioned as Pinnacle’s ultimate commuter, composing a reliable Alfine hub gear, TRP Hydros for all weather stopping, and tubeless ready wheels to minimize punctures.

Commenting on the new range, Scott Decker, Product Manager for Own Brand Bikes at Evans Cycles said “As riders demand more range of use from a drop-bar bike, we wanted to show the versatility that this frame can offer the rider by designing more adaptability into the frameset itself.

“With single and double chainring options as well as electronic or cable gears being a common decision, alongside axle type or wheel size or whether to fit guards and a rack or not, we saw an opportunity to design a solution that looked more complete or neat in any configuration. With the new Pinnacle Arkose, we’re proud to have created a range of bikes that help riders unearth new routes and discover new styles of riding.”

The new Pinnacle Arkose bikes are now available to pre-order and are expected to be in-stock at the beginning of March.
