Nottingham, in central England’s Midlands region, will be home to a new purpose-built open water venue, opening next month. Based at the National Watersports Centre, the facility is being run by RG Active and the new infrastructure has been built already.
New changing rooms, reception and showroom are currently being installed and will sit alongside a new open water swim store and café. Swimming will take place in a smaller lake alongside the Regatta Lake, which hosts the award-winning Outlaw Triathlon.
Plans for the new training centre include:
- Wetsuit hire
- 1-2-1 swim coaching
- Lido space available for club hire
- Just swimming sessions
- Group swim coaching
- Training races including swim/run, aquathlons and swimming races
- Retail store selling open water and triathlon gear including Aqua Sphere, Michael Phelps’ MP brand, QWS, ROSE Bikes, Flare clothing, Bolle, Pro-Lite and more
- Cafe for refreshments
John Brame of RG Active said “Our aim is to make this one of the best open water swimming venues in Britain. We’re successfully operating at various lakes around London and want this to be a flagship multisport destination in the East Midlands.”
Further details on the new open water venue will follow in the coming weeks.
