Spartan Race has today announced four additions – Innis & Gunn, SOS Hydration, Nocco and Happy Monkey Drinks – to its sponsorship roster for the remainder of the 2019 UK & Ireland season.
The obstacle race organiser adds that all the new sponsors will help to enhance the race experience for the thousands of Spartan competitors and ‘showcases the growth of the brand over the last 12 months’.
The new roster sees SOS Hydration become the official hydration provider for Spartan UK. Developed by two former professional athletes from the UK, a British Army veteran and a doctor, SOS is positioned as a high-performance energy drink that provides hydration and electrolytes to help beat fatigue and recover fast.
SOS Hydration will be providing hydration drinks to racers at all Spartan events across the UK as they cross the finish line, as well as providing samples and selling products at each of the races.
Happy Monkey Drinks has been brought on board as the hydration partner for Spartan Kids events. Happy Monkey Drinks are made using 100% pure fruit and vegetables, and are free from sweeteners and preservatives. The brand will be providing all children with a celebratory smoothie as they cross the finish line.
Spartan has also confirmed NOCCO as the official BCAA partner for the season. NOCCO’s range of sugar-free drinks, enriched with vitamins and BCAA (branched chain amino acids), will supply Spartan competitors with energy to complete their race. Available with or without caffeine, the drinks are for a pre-race energy boost or to aid post-race recovery and will be available to purchase at all Spartan events.
Innis & Gunn, the Scottish craft beer company, is the final company to be added to the sponsorship roster. It has teamed up with Spartan to offer its refreshing lager beer to racers as they cross the finish line.
As well as adding these four leading brands, Spartan is continuing its multi-year global partnership with the official performance apparel and footwear partner of the series, CRAFT Sportswear. The partnership will see the two brands collaborate to create the first line of high-performance technical apparel for Obstacle Course Racing (OCR).
Rakuten, a global leader in internet services and electronic commerce, signed on in 2018 to become Spartan’s Global Innovation partner and ‘Powered by’ Partner in 2018. As part of a multi-year deal, this sponsorship is now integrated throughout Spartan’s global ecosystem of events, digital advertising, content and merchandise. Rakuten is also the official kit sponsor for the Spartan Pro Team and finisher shirts of more than one million racers worldwide.
Emily le Roux, Spartan Director of Global Partnerships said, “We are incredibly excited to announce our new partners for the 2019 season. We have brought together brands who share our values of grit, transformation and bringing healthy living to thousands of loyal customers.
“This year the UK & Ireland Series has expanded to seven events and it has been one of the most exhilarating to date. We still have three huge events to go, including the season finale at the iconic Twickenham Stadium.”
The final three Spartan races of the year will take place in Windsor, Scotland and Twickenham Stadium – which will be the first ever obstacle course event to be held in the iconic venue. There will be a Spartan Corporate Challenge on Friday 22nd November 2019 and an event that is open to the general public on Saturday 23rd November.
