Over two main days of racing, a diverse line-up of more than 5,500 registered competitors representing 105 countries, regions and territories on six continents toed the line in the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship on September 7-8. The race weekend featured full live coverage available globally on www.facebook.com/IRONMANNow, and to local viewers in France on La Chaîne L’Équipe.
One day one, for the women’s race, approximately 2,000 women took to the La Baie des Anges in the Mediterranean Sea for a 1.2-mile swim, then through the mountains surrounding Nice, including Col de Vence for the 56.7-mile bike, and along the world-famous Promenade des Anglais for the 13.1-mile run.
With its mix of old-world opulence, year-round sunshine, and seaside scenery, the city of Nice offered competitors ideal conditions for the event. Female athletes as young as 18 and as old as 76 competed to earn the title of World Champion.
