The hilly countryside of western Connecticut provided athletes with a challenging course in the inaugural 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 Connecticut, which took place on Sunday, June 2. Acquired from Rev3 in September 2018, the event saw nearly 2,700 registered athletes representing 37 US states and 19 countries, territories, and regions.
One of more than 100 events in the global IRONMAN 70.3 Series, athletes took on a 0.47-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run through the New England countryside. The race began with a swim through the blue waters of spring-fed Lake Quassapaug, followed by a challenging bike course through the Connecticut countryside with long winding descents that took athletes along pastoral vineyards. The event was capped off with a two-loop run course through scenic New England neighbourhoods.
