More 5,000 runners from all 50 US states and 15 countries will hit the pavement this weekend at the 16th annual Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon & Rosé 5K. The Event organizer, Motiv is also welcoming Jaguar Land Rover as the ‘Official Vehicle’ sponsor for the first time.
Athletes will have an opportunity to experience the all-new Jaguar I-PACE – the first all-electric performance SUV from Jaguar – at the Health & Fitness Expo on Saturday, July 20 at Sonoma Plaza. The vehicle will also be present at the finish line on Sunday as runners celebrate with 35 wineries at the post-race Wine Tasting Festival on race day.
“The Napa To Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon is a premier event, attracting athletes and wine enthusiasts from around the world,” said Alex Bennett, Executive Race Director. “This year’s participation will be the largest in the race’s 16-year history – with two days of running events and we look forward to partnering with Jaguar/Land Rover and showcasing their new luxury Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicle as we provide a one-of-a-kind event experience this weekend.”
The Napa To Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon offers up 13.1 miles of racing and tasting for runners. The course begins at the opulent Cuvaison Winery in Napa, running alongside miles of vineyards, ranches, wineries and the Napa-Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Area, before entering spectator-lined streets in downtown Sonoma for the final stretch.
For the first time in 2019, the event weekend will feature two-days of running – with the Rosé 5K taking place on Saturday at Sonoma Plaza. The 13.1-mile half-marathon starts at 07:00 PT on Sunday in Napa and also finishes at Sonoma Plaza. Live bands will perform throughout the weekend at the Grinstead Amphitheater adjacent to the plaza in downtown Sonoma.
While the half-marathon sold out in November, interested runners can still participate through one the event’s charity partners and fundraise for the charity. Charities have raised over US$25 million for their causes through the Napa 2 Sonoma Half Marathon over the history of the event.
