SCOTT has released a new carbon cycling shoe line-up, with the all-new ROAD RC EVO as the highlighted product offering for 2020.
SCOTT’s specialism with carbon has long trickled down from bike manufacturing to cycling shoes. The company adds that this knowledge is reflected even more in the 2020 SCOTT cycling shoe collection, which consists of shoes that have amassed World Championships and Pro Tour stage wins.
SCOTT has been looking intensively into optimal stiffness-to-weight ratios for carbon cycling shoes. SCOTT footwear engineers believe that a shoe’s stiffness can only be effective when the upper material offers a snug and seamless construction.
With the all-new SCOTT RC EVO road racing shoe, SCOTT is releasing ‘a race-proven shoe whose upper material enforces the effectiveness of the stiff HMX outsole’. Laminated and seamless, the minimal yet durable and stiff upper offers a ‘glove-like feel and transfers power through the outsole into the pedals’.
SCOTT adds that the ROAD RC EVO is a shoe primed to attack, especially for climbing specialists and for those where power transfer is everything. The ROAD RC EVO and the XC dedicated MTB RC EVO are both available in sizes EU 38-48 and retail for €299.95.
Road cycling and cross-country MTB racing have both diverged into various disciplines over the past few years. Accordingly, SCOTT notes that requirements for specific footwear have grown. For 2020, the company is expanding its racing footwear collection for both road riding and XC to meet the demands of any type of rider and any discipline.
The shoes offer specific features, purely designed for single purposes such as aerodynamic shoes for triathlon, lightweight shoes for climbing or incredibly stiff shoes built for fast stages. The main highlights alongside the RC EVO line are the Tri Carbon and the all-new Vertec Lady.
Designed for triathletes, such as SCOTT sponsored athlete Sebastian Kienle, the SCOTT Road Tri Carbon brings the BOA IP-1 Fit System to the shoe’s heel. The result is a sleeker, clean shoe shape. SCOTT claims that this design saves important watts without losing any stiffness or comfort. The HMF outsole with a stiffness index of 9 ensures maximum energy transfer.
Heading off-road, the minimalist SCOTT MTB RC SL Carbitex shoe is built on an HMX carbon sole with a Corecell foam core for more weight savings and power transfer. A dual Boa IP-1 Fit System secures the Carbitex carbon fibre uppers. An outsole with minimal Sticki rubber tread completes this race shoe.
For aspiring XC racers and performance oriented women, SCOTT developed the SCOTT Vertec Boa Lady shoe. The Vertec Boa doesn’t forsake comfort with its microfibre upper and its Boa IP-1 Fit System for micro adjustment. In combination with an ErgoLogic adjustable insole and an increased range of cleat adjustment, the shoe can be personalized to a rider’s foot.
