IRONMAN has announced a multi-year continuation of its partnership with Race Day Wheels serving as the Official Wheel Rental provider across IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 US Series events. 2019 marks the 10th season of partnership between the two organizations.
Race Day Wheels notes that it offers everyone from beginner triathletes to the professionals the opportunity to ride fast, carbon race wheels at a discounted price during IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events.
Race Day Wheels is partnered with Zipp, a brand known for its high performance, quality components and innovative design and manufacturing. Race Day Wheels adds that it is the only wheel rental provider in the industry to offer top-of-the-line bicycle wheel rentals to athletes at affordable rates.
“I borrowed my friend’s training wheels for my first IRONMAN race because they were so much lighter than the stock wheels on my road bike,” said Earl Walton, Global Director of Training and Coaching at IRONMAN. “I wish Race Day Wheels was around back then. This is a great partnership for our athletes to celebrate their training on race day. Great preparation plus great equipment makes for more fun on the course.”
Offering 2019 ZIPP 404, 808 and Super-9 Disc Firecrest Carbon Clincher options, Race Day Wheels provides ready-to-race wheels with tyres. Rentals start from US$175 and are available year-round for all cycling and triathlon events within the United States. Race Day Wheels also makes renting easy by offering shipping to an athlete’s house, hotel, or local bike shop, in addition to on-site installation services at IRONMAN Villages throughout the USA.
“It’s our 10th year renting wheels and we love helping athletes get to the finish line,” said President of Race Day Wheels, and former professional triathlete, Marc Lees. “Athletes can select from a number of high-quality wheel options at a fraction of the cost to make the bicycle portion of their race feel markedly smoother.”
With a handful of races already completed, Race Day Wheels will continue to have locations in a number of IRONMAN Villages throughout 2019, with wheels available for rental and purchase at the following events across the country:
