Registration for the 2020 Malibu Triathlon presented by Bank of America has opened. The event weekend returns to the scenic coastal bluffs of Malibu, California, on the weekend of September 26-27, 2020.
“There is not a better destination in the world for a triathlon weekend than Malibu,” said Michael Epstein, Executive Producer. “The combination of a world-class swim, bike and run event combined with the stunning views and oceanfront atmosphere creates the perfect dynamic that triathletes of all ability levels won’t want to miss.”
For the first time in Malibu Triathlon history, this year’s race debuted a longer course distance event that ‘proved to be wildly successful’. Each of the swim, bike and run courses start and finish at Zuma Beach.
The organising team noted that the longer distance course attracted a sold out field in 2019, with ‘participants from around the world traveling to experience the one-of-a-kind event… Registration for the 2020 long course event is limited, and the race is expected to sell-out, so athletes are highly encouraged to take advantage of special early entry pricing and sign up now at NauticaMalibuTri.com.’
Longer course participants can enjoy the 1.2-mile swim off the Malibu coastline; followed by a 56-mile bike ride passing Point Mugu rock and through the fast and flat farmlands of Ventura County; and then finishing with a 13.1-mile beachfront run to ‘sounds of crashing waves and cheering spectators.’
The 2020 Malibu Triathlon weekend begins with packet pick up and fitness expo where all participants go to pick up their race number, t-shirt and drop their bike. The expo takes place at Zuma Beach on Friday, September 25 and will feature booths and exhibits from fitness retailers, and a full series of interactive clinics.
