Spirit Multisport adds new Swiss run series supporting women’s health

A new series of running events promoting women’s health through participation in sport, has been announced by ‘Swiss-based corporate health and multisport organisation’, Spirit Multisport. This is the latest development from the company behind the European Long Distance Triathlon Series.

The Ladies Run Series, which consists of ‘four achievable and enjoyable running events over 5km and 10km distance’s, will be held in Schaffhausen, Nottwil, St Moritz and Kreuzlingen in Switzerland between June and September this year.

Spirit Multisport CEO, Tom Sutton, said the events will provide a unique experience for women of all ages. “It is well known that participation in sport brings many health benefits, both physical and mental, and by bringing women together for these events, we also aim to create a community that is positive and supportive.”

He continued, “The Ladies Run events are accessible and achievable, with distances suitable for those participating in a running event for the first time, along with those who enjoy running for health and fitness and as a weekend activity with friends.”

Spirit Multisport co-founder, Olympian Nicola Spirig, is a patron of the series and its objective to promote women’s health. She said, “Through their non-competitive nature and emphasis on fun this series separates itself from other races. The runs are meant to help underline the importance of physical activity as one of the aspects of healthy living for everyone while creating a supportive community feel.”

The emphasis will be on providing a safe environment and a course suitable for women to run with prams. A spokesperson for the new series added, ‘We want to make these events as accessible as possible so have chosen courses that are easy to run with or without a pram!’

The Ladies Run Series will be held on the following dates:

  • Schaffhausen: June 30
  • Nottwil: July 14
  • St Moritz: August 11
  • Kreuzlingen: August 25
