The 10th anniversary of Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee, taking place on June 30 in the Austrian Tyrol, will see a strong field of professional athletes. Famous former winners, including Giulio Molinari and Yvonne van Vlerken, will face strong competition. The likes of Nils Frommhold, last year’s runner-up Frederic Funk, Britain’s Emma Pallant and Austrian athletes Eva Wutti and Thomas Steger will all battle for the podium.
“When we look back to the very emotional first event in 2010, the ETU European Championships in 2016 and the event in 2018, every edition has left special memories for all of us,” said Race Director Andreas Klingler. “Every race was characterized by passion and dramatic scenes, unbelievable sporting performances and the unique family-friendly flair of the Kaiserwinkl region.”
As with all Challenge Family events, Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee is not just about the professional athletes. Moreover, the organising team note that the focus is very much on amateur age group athletes. A family atmosphere and amenities for triathletes and spectators will be laid on – as the event gears up to host the ETU European Championship Middle Distance Festival in 2020.
The organising team at Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee intend for the 2020 event to become a ‘true triathlon festival with lots of racing options at the highest level of competition, including the best triathletes from all over Europe.’
