This upgrade allows users to automatically sync completed activities from Garmin Connect to TrainingPeaks, as well as upload eligible future structured workouts from their TrainingPeaks calendar to even more Garmin devices — including the new Garmin Edge 530, Edge 830 and Forerunner 945.
“TrainingPeaks strives to keep our users up-to-date with the latest training innovations,” said Dirk Friel, TrainingPeaks co-founder and Chief Evangelist. “This new integration with Garmin allows our athletes and coaches to view and track multiple structured workouts on even more Garmin devices. Ultimately, helping them save time and focus on achieving their training goals.”
This new development will phase out the current TrainingPeaks Connect IQ app, replacing it with a new integration that allows for multiple structured workouts to be sent automatically to compatible Garmin devices — instead of just workouts scheduled that day. It will also enable more devices, including some older and non-Bluetooth devices, to take advantage of TrainingPeaks structured workouts.
“We are excited to provide even more training capabilities to athletes using both Garmin and TrainingPeaks,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing. “Making it easier for TrainingPeaks members to view workout details on their Garmin devices, in addition to providing valuable activity metrics, will not only help athletes keep better track of their health and fitness goals, but also encourage them to ‘Beat Yesterday’.”
The Edge 530, Edge 830 and Forerunner 945 are the latest training devices from the Garmin Fitness division. When used in combination with TrainingPeaks, these offer athletes and coaches a ‘seamless training experience’. From planning and creating structured workouts, to execution and tracking workouts in real-time, to in-depth analysis and performance review afterward, this new integration ‘advances the cutting-edge of endurance training technology’.
