USA Triathlon has signed a four-and-a-half-year agreement with Wahoo Fitness, the specialist in indoor smart trainers and connected cycling computers. Wahoo gets on board as a technological partner supporting the national governing body’s elite and amateur athletes, as well as programming and events.
As the Official Bike Trainer and Bike Computer of USA Triathlon through 2023, Wahoo will directly support the US National Team, Toyota US Paratriathlon National Team and the Project Podium men’s elite development squad based at Arizona State University.
Wahoo’s portfolio of products includes the popular KICKR family of indoor cycling trainers and ELEMNT family of cycling computers. Beginning in 2020, the partnership will expand to also include the TICKR family of heart rate monitors.
“No matter where USA Triathlon members are in their multisport journey, data and technology are critical to monitoring their training and progress along the way,” said Chuck Menke, USA Triathlon Chief Marketing Officer. “We are proud to welcome Wahoo to our family of partners to maximize use of that data in training and racing.
“Wahoo’s smart bike trainers and cycling computers are transforming the way we approach both indoor and outdoor training, providing valuable insights to improve the multisport experience for age-groupers and elite athletes alike.”
Mike Saturnia, Wahoo Fitness CEO, said “Triathletes worldwide have embraced Wahoo’s products to train and compete at the highest levels. We are thrilled to partner as the exclusive smart bike trainer and GPS bike computer of USA Triathlon, the US National Team, Toyota US Paratriathlon National Team and Project Podium.”
Wahoo will also serve as the presenting sponsor of USA Triathlon’s Athlete of the Year and Multisport Awards, which ‘celebrate the greatest accomplishments and contributions to the sport on an annual basis’.
The company will provide support for age-group athletes via the ‘Warm Up Zone Powered by Wahoo Fitness’ at select USA Triathlon-owned National Championships, as well as the Legacy Triathlon held in Long Beach, California.
In addition, Wahoo will partner with the USA Triathlon Foundation on key events and initiatives, including the USA Triathlon Foundation Fantasy Camp.
