Citing ‘several external circumstances’, the organising team at this year’s Wildflower Experience have confirmed the cancellation of this year’s event – which was scheduled to take place on May 3-5, 2019 at Lake San Antonio in Monterey County, California.
The company’s website has a ‘2019 Wildflower Experience Update… Due to several external circumstances beyond our control we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Wildflower Experience in 2019. Although we are very disappointed to not see you all in 2019, the Wildflower Experience will be back, better than ever, in May 2020.
‘Full refunds will be provided to all participants.’
The event has been impacted in previous years due by drought conditions in the local area. The event returned in 2018 after the drought in Northern California ended. According to the organising team, the comeback was seen as successful, indicating that the ‘Woodstock of Triathlon’ would reach its original peak numbers in 2019.’
An e-mail to participating athletes gave apologies for the cancellation of this year’s event…
We write to advise that due to several external circumstances beyond our control we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Wildflower Experience in 2019.
We understand the importance of race schedules and the preparation and planning that athletes undertake to participate in an event like Wildflower Experience. It is for this reason we announce the cancellation of the 2019 event now, giving as much notice as possible.
Full refunds will be issued to all registered participants by our registration partner ACTIVE Network by Friday 22nd February, 2019.
We apologize for any inconvenience you experience as a result of this cancellation.
Although we are very disappointed to not see you all this year, the Wildflower Experience will be back, better than ever, in May, 2020. As a valued loyal participant we will be offering a priority entry process, exclusively for 2019 entrants that will be made available later this year.
Thank you for your understanding and loyalty to the Wildflower. We look forward to seeing you at an expanded Wildflower Experience in 2020.
