Shimano’s long-awaited 12-speed mountain flagship, M9100 XTR, is starting to land in stores; and accessories specialist Wolf Tooth is ready with a new line of chainrings ‘completely re-engineered for optimal performance with this new system.’

The company adds that its new tooth profile has been designed to bring Wolf Tooth’s signature chain retention to Shimano’s latest without the premature ring and chain wear that can come from non-optimized profiles.

Wolf Tooth notes that the new Hyperglide+ chain interacts with the chainring much differently than a traditional wide/narrow design. ‘Wolf Tooth engineers spent the time to understand how the system works and design a new tooth profile that is optimized for this system.’

Priced from US$54.95 – US$79.95, an engineered proprietary tooth profile helps to maintain the quiet and smooth performance of the HG+ drivetrain with Wolf Tooth chain retention.

A full line-up of chainrings to provide solutions for a wide variety of cranksets will be released over the next two months. Direct mount chainrings for Race Face Cinch are shipping now. Several other round chainring fitments are available for pre-order and will be shipping in March. Elliptical chainring options will be available in April.

ReMote Drop Bar
Also joining Wolf Tooth’s existing bar-top ReMote 31.8mm Clamp, the ReMote Drop Bar is a bar-end lever that can be rotated to suit rider preference.

Wolf Tooth adds that as gravel bikes have taken off, more and more riders have discovered the joy of exploration while renewing their love for local and less-technical trails… ‘Even so, there’s a fine line between under-biked riding being exciting and terrifying; and most rides have a few sections that are just more fun with a lower centre of gravity.

Priced at US$79.95, the low-profile ReMote Drop Bar stays out of the way of brake and shift levers during the bulk of riding but can be actuated by pushing down with the wrist or pulling up with ring and pinkie fingers. The wraparound base and expanding plug fit most carbon and aluminium road handlebars. Straightforward cable routing minimizes friction while Delrin bearings pivot smoothly and are easily serviced or replaced.
