These athletes join other ambassadors, such as: current IRONMAN world record holder Matt Hansen, British IRONMAN record holder Tim Don and Australian ITU athlete Jake Birtwhistle. All sponsored athletes will wear Zone3’s new 2019 Vanquish wetsuit.
Josh Amberger is one of the fastest long-distance triathlon swimmers, leading out the swim at the IRONMAN World Championships in the past two years. With the help of the new Vanquish and Zone3 Kona swimskin, he aims to break the Kona swim course record in the next few years.
Josh Amberger said “From the first second after the gun goes off, I use every stroke in the water to open up a lead on my competitors and to set up the race from the front. As a performance focused athlete, I’m always looking for ways to enhance my feel & speed in the water, and the Zone3 Vanquish has enabled me to consolidate a technical advantage over the field.
“I have full confidence in the suite of products Zone3 offers me for training & racing, and I couldn’t be happier to partner with this progressive brand.”
ITU athlete Non Stanford is also joining the Zone3 team, leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. “I’m excited to be working with Zone3 going into the last couple of years of this Olympic cycle,” Non Stanford said. “At such a crucial point in the build-up to Tokyo 2020, where selection is on the line and world class performances are essential, it’s reassuring to have the backing of a great British brand with a world-class product.”
Bart Aernouts had a strong 2018 season, capped off by finishing second at the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. In doing so, he became only the second person in history to complete the course in under eight-hours.
He said “If I get the chance again to battle for the win in Kona I’m ready to take more risks as I already have a podium finish under my belt.
“I’m very happy to join the Zone3 family in 2019. Triathlon is my passion and it feels great to find ambitious partners that share this passion for the sport. I’m looking forward to enjoying my swimming as never before!”
Daniela Bleymehl (formerly Sämmler) rounds off the last of the athletes to join the Zone3 roster for 2019, aiming to build on her successful long distance-triathlon season from 2018 – where she won a battle against Lucy Charles to win Challenge Roth, as well as winning IRONMAN Italy to already gain qualification to the Kona World Championships in 2019.
Daniela Bleymehl said “One of the main aspects of my preparation for racing this year is to improve my swim, to put me in a position to have more tactical possibilities for the bike and run. That’s why I’m very happy to team up with Zone3 and to train and race in the Vanquish wetsuit this season. I can’t wait to use the sleeved swimskin for non-wetsuit swims like in the World Championships race in Kona, Hawaii. I’m so excited for the season to start.”
Sam Begg, Sponsorship Manager at Zone3 said “We’re incredibly proud of the athletes who currently represent Zone3. To be increasing the team to include all of these new athletes is fantastic for the brand. The next two years hold some brilliant opportunities, with members of the team set to compete at the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona and at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
“We are delighted to be supporting these athletes and giving them every advantage they can in their journey to reach new limits.”
