On March 29, 2020, elite half marathon runners will compete on the streets of Gdynia in Poland for the title of world champion. Including amateur runners, a field of over 25,000 amateur runners will create the largest running event in Polish history – the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships Gdynia 2020.
As an official partner of the event, ASICS – together with Polish sports & lifestyle retailer eobuwie.pl – will help with race preparation. The run brand and retailer will engage with residents of five Polish cities from January 12, from which the largest number of registered participants come. The pre-race training locations are Gdynia, Kraków, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław. In addition to weekly training sessions, ASICS will prepare ‘numerous attractions for runners in each of the five cities.’
ASICS and eobuwie.pl are offering a series of 11 free training session, led by experienced running coaches. These will help athletes meet their goals at the start of World Athletics Half Marathon Championships on March 29, 2020.
Training sessions will take place every Sunday between 12 January and 22 March in the mornings, across each of the five locations.
During the sessions, participants will be able to meet leading Polish runners, ASICS brand ambassadors, who will be happy to share their knowledge and experience. Members of the ASICS FrontRunner Poland community will be present, whose mission is to ‘motivate all people to physical activity, as well as to build a unique atmosphere during joint training sessions.’
Meetings with ASICS experts will take place in eobuwie.pl sites in Gdańsk, Katowice, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław. Runners will also be able to have a free biomechanic examination and 3D foot scan using the esize.me system to help determine appropriate run shoes.
“We are very happy that ASICS will be able to share its experience in caring for runners,” said Daniel Bogacki, PR & Sports Marketing Specialist from ASICS. “For many years, our brand has been supporting the largest running events. Thanks to this, we know what runners need, and hence, we are able to meet their high expectations.
“We have been providing them with the best quality sports equipment. This year we want to go a step further and take care of runners holistically. I am thinking of dietary, mental and broad training knowledge or physiotherapy. That is why I invite runners to our series of training sessions, which will be run by very experienced trainers, supported by the knowledge of our brand ambassadors and special guests.”
Konrad Jezierski, Director at retailer eobuwie.pl added, “A healthy lifestyle and passion for sport are very important values for eobuwie.pl. We support running enthusiasts, both by involvement in prestigious running events and in the development of amateur running within our team. We are happy to be able to make the eobuwie.pl store space available to both highly advanced people and those starting their adventure with running. At eobuwie.pl, anyone interested in playing sports can help find the best-fitting shoes free of charge.”
