Austrian hotel operator Falkensteiner is opening a new congress and sports centre, Fortis Club, at its Punta Skala resort near Croatia’s Adriatic city of Zadar. The resort is expected to open its doors in May, to coincide with the Zadar Half Triathlon in the local area.
Falkensteiner is investing around €15 million (US$16.6 million) in Punta Skala, after previously investing €3.0 million in the expansion of its new facilities in the past two years, the company said in a statement.
The soon-to-open congress and sports centre Fortis Club will have a multifunctional hall, featuring high-quality technical equipment and a modern design. The centre will also feature a professional fitness centre, bowling lanes, pools and e-gaming. An additional feature will be a sports market, which will offer up bike rental and a range of items for purchase.
“The Falkensteiner Punta Skala Resort has many sports facilities and attractions for our guests,” said Georg Unterkircher, General Manager of the resort. “Many athletes are happy to return for their holidays, and the Zadarhalf Triathlon by Punta Skala Resort, which is being held for the seventh time this year (on May, 16th), has already become our trademark.”
He continued, “It will be ideal for organising various events, sports conventions, team-building or socialising for our partners and clients. Falkensteiner Punta Skala is a resort where the active form of vacation and sport is extremely important. So in this direction we are developing our offer, which this year has many events that guests can look for in our event calendar.”
Official Zadar Half Triathlon Training Camp 2020 by Adriatic Coaching
Together with the 7th edition of the Falkensteiner Punta Skala Triathlon, Falkensteiner Punta Skala Resort aims to promote itself as a triathlon-friendly hotel with a new offering of international triathlon training camps.
The Official Zadar Half Triathlon Training Camp 2019 by Adriatic Coaching with Dejan Patrčević, a Croatian ex-pro triathlete and IRONMAN Certified coach, takes place on 18-24 April, 2020.
“As the first Zadar Half distance winner in 2016, I realized how much potential this race has in the upcoming years,” said Patrčević. “The race is a great combination of a fast and safe bike course, a wetsuit allowed swim in the amazing Adriatic Sea and a very beautiful run that in 2020 has an improved faster course closer to the sea.
“Another important advantage of the Zadar Half race is that it is a family friendly race environment with Falkensteiner resort offering a fabulous family holiday that children will love. For the last five years in my triathlon racing career, I try to take my family with me whenever this is possible. And Falkensteiner resort has most certainly become a place to return to year after year – for both the Zadar Half race and family weekend escape.’’
Race Director Zlatko Parac said “The camp will be organized for the 7 days before race day (a minimum stay of 3 days is also possible). It is suitable for both beginners and experienced athletes, alone or with their families.”
Parac continued, “If you are considering to participate in the Zadar Half race, take advantage in discovering some of the pre-race training special tips and tricks by joining the camp. If you do not feel like participating in the Zadar Half race as a single participant, you may participate in the relay team or just take advantage of the camp program in beautiful Falkensteiner Punta Skala Resort.”
