NURVV Run insoles & coaching app help athletes ‘run faster with reduced injury risk’

154

Wearable tech and biomechanics specialist NURVV has launched NURVV Run – ‘a coaching app and insoles aimed at helping runners of all types run faster and reduce injury.’ The company notes that NURVV Run ‘accurately captures running from the point of action, analyzes the data using biomechanical principles and then offers actionable insights and real-time coaching.’

Running measured from the feet
32 high precision sensors embedded into two lightweight insoles capture data from the feet at ‘1,000 times per second, per sensor, providing unique running metrics such as cadence, step length, footstrike, pronation and balance.’ This shows a picture of an individual’s running technique.

Personalized insights and guidance
The NURVV Run coaching app analyzes data using advanced biomechanics to ‘deliver simple, actionable insights and personalized coaching that gives guidance on how to improve before, during and after each run.’

“Runners are able to collect a huge amount of data about each and every run they do,” said Jason Roberts, founder and CEO of NURVV. “However, most of what they capture is historic, inaccurate and provides few insights on how to be a better runner.

“NURVV Run will revolutionize how people run by accurately capturing the metrics that matter most, directly from the point of action, before using live coaching to help them improve in a simple, easy-to-understand way.”

Live in-run coaching
In-run coaching, including personalized speed and technique workouts, helps individuals run at a target pace, to a chosen finish time or beat a personal record with ‘responsive, in-run audio, visual and haptic feedback.’

NURVV adds that real-time prompts detailing step length, cadence and pace on critical splits also help keep runners on track to hit their goals.

NURVV Run also helps runners understand how training affects the body with a personalized Running Health score. This figure indicates how sustainable their running is – based on training load, pronation, cadence and balance. It claims to reduce injury risk by identifying problem areas before they become serious and gives insights on how to improve.

Runners can also optimize their training with recommendations on a distance to run to achieve their optimal training zone and avoid overtraining.

“Combining our cutting-edge wearable technology, in-house biomechanics expertise, and ongoing dialogue with the running community, NURVV Run is the most comprehensive tool for runners who crave more detailed information on their performance and technique,” said Dr Grant Trewartha, Head of Biomechanics at NURVV.

‘Rigorously tested’
Over the past three years, hundreds of athletes, universities and leading institutions including SATRA Technology and the National Physical Laboratory have tested NURVV Run, with over 22 million steps of durability testing and 30,000 miles covered on the road.

‘NURVV Run fits in all running shoes, is rain, mud and puddle proof and features a five-hour active battery life.’

It is available for pre-order on www.nurvv.com beginning January 6, 2020 and shipping January 20, 2020. It’s available in six sizes for US$299.95. Each purchase includes two ‘ultra-thin, comfortable insoles, two lightweight GPS trackers and access to the free NURVV Run Coaching app on iTunes and Google Play Store.’

Runners can run outdoors and indoors, can run phone-free, and can connect their NURVV Run to Apple Watch or ANT+ (Garmin) to receive live, in-run alerts.
