Realbuzz Group has announced the launch of a new virtual events platform hosted on its website realbuzz.com. The new system will allow runners to remotely take part in a range of running challenges from 5k to ultra marathon, including realbuzz.com branded events, officially licensed events, and charity events.
To take part in a virtual event, entrants can run in any location of their choosing at a time that suits them. Runners will record the distance they have covered on their preferred tracking app, smart watch or treadmill, then submit evidence to show they have covered the distance. The company notes that ‘A high quality bespoke medal is then posted out to the runner as a lasting memento of their achievement.’
Realbuzz Group has been developing its virtual events platform over the last 12 months. CEO Tim Rogers said “This is an unprecedented time for the endurance events industry, with the vast majority of races around the world being postponed or cancelled.
“Millions of runners have been left feeling frustrated and powerless with months of training potentially going to waste. We hope that our new virtual events system will give those runners the chance to complete the distance they’ve worked so hard towards.”
Virtual events will also be used by a number of Realbuzz Group’s charity partners, who are ‘currently facing never-before-seen challenges due to event cancellations and postponements.’
“Many charities are facing uncertainty, as their fundraisers in events are unable to run,” said Phil Marsh, Head of Charities at Realbuzz Group. “Our virtual events platform is empowering our charity partners to protect their fundraising revenues. Charity branded virtual events allow fundraisers to maintain their momentum, with an officially verified result to show their donors at the end of their journey.”
Realbuzz Group adds that it will also be supporting a range of charity partners by donating £5 from every entry fee to a charity chosen by the runner, with further fundraising also available through partner charities.
Realbuzz Group also works closely with a range of races through its online entry software realbuzz registrations. It adds that ‘events that have faced cancellations and postponements now have the option of offering their runners an alternative in the form of a virtual event through realbuzz.com.’
